She is a member of the Art Club, Student Government Association, a PCHS Ambassador, a Peer Helper and the varsity basketball team.Lauren plans to attend college and earn a degree in marine biology because ocean life is at risk and wants to be involved in its preservation.”Lauren has assisted with planning local fundraising events and with efforts to register people in her community to vote. She also has a passion for those less fortunate. She has assisted with fundraising efforts to provide shoes for children in Haiti. Trey Vareman is an honor student at GHS, a member of the National Beta Club and also a member of Phi Beta Kappa at Enterprise State Community College. At GHS, he is a member of the varsity football and baseball teams and the math team. He will finish high school with an associate’s degree in applied science. Trey has participated in the Washington D.C. Youth Tour and a Boys’ State representative on his resume. He is also a member of the Boy Scouts of American. He plans to study bio-medical science in college. Copeland was also recognized as the recipient of the DAR’s Essay Award.The Good Citizen Awards recognize and reward students who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their homes, school and communities.Gibson said, all four recipients of the Oliver Wiley Chapter DAR’s 2019 Good Citizen Awards possess all of the qualities of a good citizen. They are outstanding examples of good citizenship and all four have excelled academically as well. Max is an honor student at PLAS and is dually enrolled at Troy University. He has served as president of his junior and senior classes, is a member of the Excel Club, the student newspaper, and a member of the varsity baseball, basketball and football teams. He is a member of Brundidge United Methodist Church where he is a youth lay leader. He volunteers with parades and events in Brundidge. Political science in Max’s area of interest and a path that could lead to the political arena.His winning essay focused on the “next generation of great Americans.“America has always been a torch bearer and our next generation will prevail,” he saidHayden Reese Stephens was not able to attend the DAR meeting.
