Teams will have to ‘kick, battle and bite’ to beat Man City this season, talkSPORT told

first_imgManchester City’s Premier League rivals will have to play dirty to halt the Blues this season following their rip roaring start to the campaign, believes club legend Rodney Marsh.Manuel Pellegrini’s side sit top of the table with six points after storming their opening two games, following up a 3-0 victory over West Brom with a stunning win over Chelsea by the same scorline. The likes of David Silva and Yaya Toure were irresistible in those games, while Vincent Kompany has recovered from a below-par campaign to again prove why he is regarded as one of the league’s best centre-backs.And, after losing their top flight title to Chelsea last season, Marsh believes City will be a force to be reckoned with as they seek to reclaim the crown.“I think this year, when you play against Man City the biggest thing you’re going to have to do is stop them playing,” he told the Sports Bar.“All this about trying to outplay teams – no. When you play Man City, you’ve got to kick David Silva, you’ve got to battle and bit and stop them from playing first because they just look sensational .“In the first two games of the season, David Silva has been absolutely outstanding – they couldn’t live with him at West Brom and he was brilliant again against Chelsea, they were breath-taking.“They’re absolutely flying and I don’t see that stopping either, they look like they could go and beat anybody, anywhere at the moment.”Listen to Rodney Marsh on Manchester City and Chelsea’s start to the season IN FULL above…last_img read more

Elizabeth Perkins really loves playing the controlling, manipulative and image-obsessed Celia Hodes on the Showtime hit “Weeds.” But that doesn’t mean she likes Celia, the PTA president who cheats on her husband, doesn’t like her daughter and failed to get much sympathy even when she battled breast cancer. “I think she’s a complete horror show, she’s completely out of her mind but in a really great way for an actress anyway,” Perkins said this week. “But I think there are parts of her that ring very true.” “Weeds” has provided her with a welcome return to those early comic roles. Steve Hollis: The search for a new Aston Villa manager has commenced

first_imgAston Villa chairman Steve Hollis has confirmed that the search for a new manager is underway, one day after the Midlands side were relegated to the Championship.A 1-0 loss at the hands of Manchester United was enough to confirm the drop to the second tier, with interim boss Eric Black unable to steer the club to safety after taking over from Remi Garde. There is a hope that Villa will be able to appoint a new manager before the end of the season, so he can start to plan for next term, utilising the entire summer for the benefit of the club.He would be the fourth manager of Villa’s season – following Tim Sherwood, Garde and Black – and Hollis has revealed that the search for a new boss is already underway.Writing in an open letter published on the club’s official website, the chairman said: “We must acknowledge that this weekend’s confirmation has been the culmination of an unacceptably fractured season both on and on the pitch.“That isn’t down to bad luck To make such a claim would be insulting to each and every one of you. I must add you have all displayed unyielding commitment in adversity.“While it is of little solace at present, the process of identifying the root causes of our circumstances started long ago and the focus now has to be looking forward and making sure lessons have been learnt.“The search for a new manager to provide drive, direction and immediate promotion has commenced.”There are real changes which need to be made at Villa Park if the club are to secure a return back to the top flight, and it is hard to imagine they will be able to win promotion at the first attempt. However, Hollis has made it clear that everyone involved at the club is working together to acheive the same goal – restoring the club to their former glory.“Together, we share the same goal,” he continued. “We intend to restore Aston Villa Football Club to its rightful place.“It is a journey we must make together so we can bring success, enjoyment and exciting football back to Villa Park once more.” Aston Villa are relegated from the Premier League 1last_img read more
